Part I in an on going series "In the land of the free"

Whistleblower, Edward Snowden fled the United States to seek asylum in the former Soviet Union (Russia) because he revealed programs practiced by the U.S. Government to spy on U.S. citizens etc.

Communist China has been building a massive interstate/ road system to connect its infrastructure.  However, several Chinese home "owners" refused to leave their homes.  China, honoring the decision of the home "owners", built the roads around the homes, though not without fussing.  In the U.S. this would never happen because, as we have seen, the state would claim eminent domain and tare down the houses.

Russia helps a man asserting free speech and China protects "property rights" more than the U.S.?  

In the Land of the Free....

"The bill (HB 707) was designed to block the government from pulling licenses, tax benefits, and the like from a company because of the owner's view of same-sex marriage. But LGBT advocates and a few legal experts have said it would also allow businesses of any size to refuse to recognize and sanction discrimination against married same-sex couples, should same-sex marriage become legal in Louisiana. "
